Best way to approach learning Japanese Grammar?

I’d say it would be having a short list of Japanese words & paragraph to translate with those words in them. That’s easy for me in Latin class.
Is there anything like that for Japanese (like a book, with grammar rules, with english characters)?

“Teach yourself Japanese”, is a very good starter book… that I used to learn nearly all the grammar/structure I ever needed to know.

I believe learning the grammar is the best place to start with languages.
And also learning the script/alphabet as soon as possible is recommended…. since, you can then learn new words from Japanese/English street signs.

But with Japanese, the Kanji is going to take some time!
